The Darkening Sky

Heavenside 1

So, I'm working on 2 final projects wherein I'm using tags or small devices for tracking/security.

Originally the plan was for RFID but apparently its been done before (not surprising, it is NYU) but no one's really dabbled in GPS tags or tracking, and I've got a few ideas I could shift that way.

So I figured this was an excellent source of techies, does anyone know of a GPS service that works off a google maps format?

In the end I want to be able to build a site anyone can access to get the information I'm planning, and unfortunately a LOT of these GPS tags or watches or whatever operate with a proprietary system which is a no-go for me. At least not without a LOT of reverse engineering that I don't want to have my code monkey friends do.

So let me know if you've heard of anything.

I know a few posts were posted about GPS and maps. This is the best one out of grinding.be I could find right now.

Android could bring augmented reality closer

I'm super busy until next week, so I probably can't get you any more info until then. I will look, though.

What is your major at NYU?

I've heard a lot of geocaching folks use similar technology. Might want to give that community a once over for some info.
